Express Your Inner Self With Bold Theme Decors

The way your home is decorated reflects your personality. The personal touch you incorporate in your home décor speaks of your character and your culture. Your sense of ownership of your own home, as well as the intimacy you feel with it enables you to create an environment that is decidedly you. If you have so many ideas in mind about how to project your personality to the décor used in your home and are confused as to where to start, it would be prudent to start decorating around a theme.

All the other furnishings inside the house, even the little trinkets should compliment the theme you have chosen. But how do you choose a theme? Decide on one which speaks of your own personality. Ideally, it has to be something that really interests you or that you like doing. If you’re a big Star Wars fan, then make that your theme. If you’re an environmentalist, you can have a jungle or a nature theme.

Choose furnishings, accessories, paints and wallpapers that reinforce your chosen theme. A jungle theme, for example, would go well with soft green walls and ceilings. Even small accessories such as a lamp or a rug have to confirm with the home décor them. This will make your life a lot easier as you will have a certain focus when you go to the store to buy accessories. You will be restrained from shopping impulsively as not all inexpensive things would suit your theme.

You may also choose to display certain collections related to the theme. Star Wars figures are a good way of emphasizing the theme. If the collections are not related to theme whatsoever, they can still be displayed as long as you find ways to be creative. You can arrange the collections in such a way to still suit the theme, for example.

Eliminate accessories and furnishings that do not fit into the theme. This is particularly useful as you will avoid unplanned decorations.

Ensure that there is balance and harmony among all the elements in your home. In this way, you will be able to create an environment that is both comfortable and reflective of you.
