Do you want your garden to have some real character and beauty? A garden that is simply comprised of plants and grass might be enough for some. But a little decor can really accentuate and compliment your garden’s over all look thus significantly adding to its natural beauty. Here are some of the most popular garden additions that you might want to try out.

Knick Knacks

Those corny garden flamingos and those creepy garden gnomes used to be popular. But you might want to reconsider using these as decorations. However, there are some instances when these could actually look good in your garden. It all depends however on the overall look and feel that you have and or want. Flamingos and gnomes that have gaudy colors are the worst to use. If you can find tasteful or funny looking ones that would really be ideal in your garden then why not. I personally would rather stick to ceramic or stone birds, turtles, and other animals. Ethnic objects like tikis and buddhas or ancient looking Chinese lion hedge stones are also cool. A good few big rocks or a pile of pebbles for the walk are also great additions.

Fountains

You can add just a small fountain somewhere there if you have a large enough plot. You can use a small one if there isn’t much space. A good alternative to fountains are small ponds. A concave pond of tough ceramic with small fish are great. These ponds don’t even need to be buried in the plot, they can be placed on the surface too and it would still look good, just watch out if you have a cat.

Pots

The pots that hold your plants can either make or break your garden. Lots of these pots are out of style and certainly add to the clutter especially if they are of differing styles and if the plants they hold are over grown. I actually do not recommend the use of pots because there are few that would really look great in your garden. However if you do find one that does look gorgeous then buy it. These are usually the very large types that have unusual or ethnic designs. You can also use these strange shaped urns as base decorations.

Decorative Metal Work

Metal works are tricky, especially since a lot of these rust. However, good iron work weather vanes are great for gardens. What’s more, they move with the wind, this can be very pleasant and useful. Wind chimes also help you notice the wind and find peaceful relaxing enjoyment out of the calming sound and sense of the wind.
