Practical Ways To Increase Values of Your Home

Wallpapers are a practical way of transforming the atmosphere of a room, from bland to stunning in just a few hours.  You can wallpaper a certain portion of a room, reinforcing the color or the theme you have chosen for the rest of the room; or it could be the focal point of a scheme if used to cover the entire room.  Unlike paint, wallpapers can conceal rough edges or cracks in the walls.  The designs in wallpapers can spice up a room’s environment or add to its elegance, in a way that ordinary paint cannot.

There is a wide range of choices for wallpaper designs, from reproductions of 18th century designs to contemporary, more adventurous patterns.  It is therefore necessary to do a lot of planning to determine the kind of wallpaper that would suit the kind of environment you want to create.  In most cases, it is essential to complete the painting first, especially of the ceiling and the woodwork.  The wallpaper design and hue has to match the chosen base color.

Different kind of patterns produces different effects.  Light colors make a small room seem larger.  Furthermore, wallpapers with small prints also create the apparent size of the room.  On the contrary, dark colors and larger prints make a room seem larger.  It may be necessary to use such shades and designs for large spaces in order to make them cozier.  High ceilings can also be made to appear lower and more comfortable with wallpapers having dark shades.  On the opposite end, low ceilings can be made to appear raised by wallpapers designed with vertical stripes.

Wallpapers do not have to be limited to walls.  Excess wallpapers can be made to cover pots, vases, lampshades and other furnishings.  In this way, differently colored decorations will have no problem matching with the theme or the color of the room.  You do not even have to stop with the decorations; you can also cover furniture, cabinets and dressers.  There is no limit to what you can do with wallpapers.  Do not be hampered by your imagination.  Instead, bring out the artist in you and you may be surprised at how you can dress up your house without even painting it.
