What better way can you think of to make your home more wintery, cozy and warm than using a fireplace as a main feature in your living room. You will more than likely already have the main ingredient for the winter home decors; and that is a fireplace. There are so many ways to dress up your fireplace to make it feel so amazing during the winter months; it will become your favorite season.Use your fireplace as a feature in your room by adding different features to it; have church candles on the hearth and have them lit as well as the fire on those chilly winter nights. You could have seasonal plants and flowers at the side of the fireplace; but not in front as they will wilt and die in front of the fireplace if you have it on regularly.

At Christmas you could have a garland draped along the mantelpiece of the fire in the winter as this will make it feel warm, inviting and look so beautiful. Have mistletoe hanging from the edges of the fireplace to really give it that Christmas feel to it. You could even have stockings hanging from the mantelpiece during the Christmas season; be careful however that you don’t leave them there while the fire is on just in case they manage to set on fire.

Have a basket of logs and pine cones in front or to the side of the fire to give it that lovely winter feeling; make it look like you’re about to use them and make it feel really traditional. Greens and reds are traditionally associated with winter and the Christmas period so having a green garland or brown and red leaves in an arrangement near the fireplace will make it a wonderful feature for everyone. Your neighbors, friends and family will love the effect and it won’t be long till everyone is doing the same!
