From the cozy and fluffy fabric with warm colors in the winter, it is time to spruce up the home in time for the blooming of flowers, and the feeling of a fresh start brought about by spring.  Hide the dark fabrics and the holiday prints and bring out fabrics of lighter shade and floral prints.

Inside your own bedroom, you can welcome spring by changing beddings and pillow covers.  Instead of the duvet used during winter, substitute thinner and softer cotton blankets.  Pillow covers having darker shades should be replaced by lighter-colored covers having floral or garden accent.

In the living room or in the porch, usher in a fresh look by putting flowers in cool-colored vases.  The flowers do not have to be fresh; they only have to bring about a refreshing atmosphere.  Rugs which looked great during the cooler months may not be appropriate for increasing temperatures.  You can still adorn the house with rugs during spring and summer but use muted colors that are made of cotton or any other soft fabric.

You may also wish to rethink the paint and the wallpaper.  Doll up the house with a fresh new color, preferably something bold and daring.  If you still prefer neutral colors however, try something different than your usual shade.  This will also give you the feeling of a fresh start.  You can also work your decorations around a certain theme, something which is quite related to spring.

Add new furnishings to the house, perhaps a new painting or an artwork you did yourself.  Better yet, you can take pictures of blossoming flowers in your neighborhood, choose the best ones and have them framed.  These will make beautiful wall ornaments which will also give you a certain feeling of pride and fulfillment.

Try to eliminate the clutter inside your home.  Spring calls for a new beginning and what better way to have a fresh start than to de-clutter your house.  Look for ways to maximize storage space.  You can add new products to get rid of, or at least reduce, the disorder in the house.
